A landscape on the glass
Glass walls are currently a very popular form of dividing office space. This
solution is perfect for interiors, which feature long corridors – thanks to
walls that let in sunlight, a larger space is lit. And even though glass partition
walls can make the interior cool and aesthetically minimalist, they become
an interesting finish of the office, when adorned with various patterns or
graphics. The Pejzaż line of partition walls offered by Espes includes glass
walls with natural motifs, as well as inscriptions and virtually any dedicated
design. The walls made by this producer include references to the logos
or the industry in which a company operates. As a result, the divided spa-
ce is very identical to the nature of the business activity conducted. But
real works of art can also be created on glass surfaces, as exemplified by
doors offered by Villa Glass Studio. Through thermal glass forming, bas-
-
reliefs similar to stained glass are created. The effect certainly makes an
interior extraordinary.
Design on the wall
But besides glass partition walls, there is always a wall in the office, which
can definitely be arranged in a way that is not only aesthetically interesting,
but also very functional. When providing an additional place to its employ-
ees, design studio InDesign created coded cabinets on one of the walls in
its Warsaw co-working space located in the Zebra Tower office building.
Aesthetic, looking like colourful tiles, they blend in with the rest of the
furnishings and embellish the office interior. Such functional yet visually
interesting use of cabinets is perfectly suited for offices, where employees
don’t have dedicated workstations or they rent certain desks or rooms like
in co-working spaces.
But cabinets are not the only functional solution, because walls in office spac-
es can also serve as boards for writing, sticking notes, creating plans and
mind maps at creative meetings. It’s enough to paint the selected surface,
for example with wall paint or cover the wall with a suitable veneer. There
are many solutions here, and what is most important – each of them fosters
successful cooperation.
Thematically
Office interiors are increasingly filled with colourful accents. The so-called
focus rooms are particularly well suited to decorating walls with colourful
motifs. You may see wallpapers, graffiti, even paintings or rich decorations in
the form of light installations there. All these ornaments are designed to main-
tain the room’s particular style. During the rearrangement of Groupon’s of-
fice by JMP Service, a leitmotif was used in the conference rooms. Elements
related to different cities, which gave their names to rooms, were introduced
to closed interiors. And so the walls feature images of landmarks, buildings
or sports for which the selected cities are famous for. This way, the interiors
have become consistent with their names, while bringing real diversity to
the office interior.
In the hands of employees
When arranging office space, it is worth looking for an idea at the source, or
people who spend the most time in particular rooms. The employees know
best what to do to give their environment a unique character. Therefore,
they can, for example, put forward an idea for a motto of their department,
which can be featured on a wall, or jointly design a pattern. The offers from
veneer manufacturers already include tools to create your own designs of
wall decorations. Such a solution is offered by Vescom, along with a wide
A method for a wall
How much does it take to liven up your office space? It turns out that sometimes surprisingly little, because you just
need an idea and the walls. And because it is not difficult to find the latter, it is worth looking at the ideas on how to
make use of them in a creative and functional way
